My name is Chad Owens, and I was diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer in June 2014.  I immediately began 3 phases of treatment, radiation with oral chemotherapy drugs then surgery to remove tumor, which left me with a permanent colostomy, then 12 rounds of IV chemotherapy.  After surgery, I developed radiation necrosis and was forced to have a wound vac for 3-4 months, as well as hyperbaric oxygen therapy for 60 days.  The 3 phases of treatment rocked me to my core, and I can assure am only here by the mercy and grace of Jesus Christ.  It is an honor and privilege for me and my family to be here to participate in the 2018 Rump Rum.  I used to love running and pretty much anything sports related, but in the words of the great philosopher, Toby Keith, “ I am not as good as I once was.”  However, I am so very thankful to be here and be able to participate in this event to support the Greater Chattanooga Colon Cancer Foundation to raise awareness about Colon Cancer in the Chattanooga Area.
